Brief history of the project
For the Trendyol team, one of the most important criteria of the project was to solve the circulation of the office, which will spread over 5 floors, in the most efficient way. For this reason, we connected all work areas with a ramp we built inside the gallery in order to shorten the circulation time and save time lost in places such as elevators and stair halls.
The cafeteria, gymnasium, conference halls and training halls that will be used to bring different teams together are located on the bottom floor, in B3. The working areas of departments such as Marketing and Business and the meeting rooms that will serve the entire office are located on the B2 floor, while the Technology team is located on the B1 floor. The atrium space, located on the B2 floor, was designed as a socializing, resting and collaborative work area, being the heart of the entire office.
By examining how the Trendyol team works and considering their growth rate, desks, which are the most important furniture of the office, were tried to be solved with a furniture that would be flexible enough for different working styles and the increase in the number of people. The approach in furniture design was to define a workspace that allows working together, where a flexible number of people can gather around and does not define a limited personal space. This work unit, which we call “Cumulus”, is a desk system with a flexible form, consisting of lockers at both ends and a slit for electricity, data infrastructure and personal belongings in the middle line. Again, personal storage units made of felt were designed specifically for these desks.
While the departments on the B2 floor were using the Cumulus desk, in the Technology department, which has a different working system than these teams, a customized seating arrangement was applied according to their own working system (Kanban). A U-shaped seating arrangement was created for the technology teams working in groups of 8-10 people, and special rail writable surface systems, rest areas and short meeting areas were designed for each team.
